Harold McLean, 83


Harold McLean of Longville died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. He was 83 years old.

Services were held on Saturday, July 13, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Harold was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Kimball to Steve and Ruth (Benton) McLean. He married Pat Rutherford in 1953. She preceded him in death in 1993. Harold did road construction from 1936 to 1940 in McGregor, later moving to St. Paul where he worked for Minnesota Wisconsin Trucking as a dispatcher from 1940 to 1970. McLean retired in 1970 and moved to Longville, where he was a school bus driver for School District 118 until 1984. He also worked part-time at Arrowhead Lumber, and he was a snowmobile guide at Thunder Lake Lodge from 1972 to 1974. McLean had a lawn and dock service until turning it over to a friend in 1995. He was a volunteer at the Family Clothing Center in Longville and was a member of the Longville Snowmobile Club. Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Pat.

Harold is survived by his sister-in-law Patty Rutherford of Longville by and his uncle and aunt Alden and Adeline Benson of New Richmond, Wis.
