Elma Isaacson, 87


Elma Isaacson of Dassel died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home. She was 87 years old. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston with Rev. Orval Wirkkala officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Elma Florence (Myllykangas) Isaacson was born on Nov. 8, 1915, in Kingston Township, Meeker County, to Jacob and Emma (Hemmi) Myllykangas. Elma grew up and attended school in the Kingston area. She was a lifetime member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston where she had been baptized and confirmed. On Oct. 15, 1936, Elma was united in marriage to Wesley Isaacson in Litchfield. Together they made their home in the Kingston area until they moved to the Dassel Apartments. In 1999, Elma moved to the Dassel Lakeside Community Home where she has since resided. When Elma was younger, she loved to sew and embroider, and she spent numerous hours in her garden. She loved to pick the flowers from her garden and arrange them for family and friends. While she lived at the nursing home, Elma arranged the flowers that were sent there. With great love she prepared them in numerous colorful arrangements. She was often in charge of making coffee for church gatherings. She loved to read, bake bread, and spend time with family and friends. Elma was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, her parents, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter Diane Anderson of Dassel, son Jacob (and Sally) Isaacson of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren: Amy, Jeff, Barb, Gayle, Patty and Jason; six great-grandchildren: Cole, Lauren, Jon, Jordan, Danielle and Rily; two brothers: William Myllykangas of Dassel, and Earl (and Mildred) Myllykangas of Arlington, Wash.; two sisters: Elina Salmela of Dassel, and Mildred (and Heimar) Hendrickson of Kingston. Casket bearers will be Jeff, Jason and Cole Anderson, Dean Hendrickson, and Steve and Kenneth Myllykangas. Music will be provided by organist Estelle Rokala and soloist Julie Schumann.
