The next two matches were much closer, defeating New York and Wisconsin by 60 and 40 points respectively. The Meeker County team saved their best match for the championship, defeating Iowa by 150 points. Team members Simon Kern and Isaac Salfer were also first and second, respectively, of the 80 total participants on the written test.
