An EV-W choir member has been chosen to perform in the 2013 American Choral Directors Association “Minnesota All-State 9-10 Womens Honor Choir”. More than 90 young women from throughout the state are expected to participate in the choir.

Heidi Geislinger was selected as one of the outstanding young Minnesota musicians from hundreds of auditions. She will be performing at the opening concert of the Minnesota Music Educators Convention in Minneapolis

Feb. 14, 2013.

The ninth-grader knows what to expect. She was selected for a similar honors choir in elementary, as well as junior high, and is looking forward to the experience. “Everyone is a good singer so when we’re all together, it sounds amazing,” she said.

A soprano I, Geislinger sent in her audition tape with the help of choir director Kathy Pauls. She performed the song “Down by the Salley Gardens,” an Irish folk song about unrequited love written by poet William Butler Yeats.

While Geislinger loves just about all types of music, her heart is in country music and, not surprisingly, artist Taylor Swift is her favorite performer. “I love singing,” she said. “I can be loud and pick different songs. There’s always a different song for the mood you’re in.”

Geislinger is the daughter of Cindy and Steve Geislinger of Watkins.
