EV-W boys?Äô basketball team loses in semis

Things looked promising early for the Eagles in their Section 6-2A semifinal game Tuesday night, March 4, in Collegeville. EV-W shot out to a 9-0 lead, but New London-Spicer cranked-up the full court pressure and turned things around, emerging with a 65-43 victory. Eagles?Äô Coach Adam Langer said his club really struggled with the intense pressure they were getting. He said that even when they broke the press, the boys couldn?Äôt hit a shot. The Wildcats (18-10) went on an 11-0 run from the 7:54 to 4:08 marks of the first half to tie the game at 22. Jared Streit led EV-W with 16 points, and the Eagles finished their season with a 16-10 record. Eagles?Äô scoring summary: Reese Jansen, 3; Nick Pauly, 9; Bret Mattice, 13; Austin Schlangen, 2; Jared Streit, 16. ?ÄúThis was only the fourth time our school has ever been to this game and we?Äôve still never won it,?Äù Langer said. ?ÄúWe have a lot to be proud of. I?Äôm happy with what we accomplished this season.?Äù
