Monday, March 17, at about 07:30 a.m. when roads were covered with ice, the Stearns County Sheriff?Äôs Office responded to the address of 21998 Co. Rd. 7 in St. Augusta for a car versus pedestrian personal injury crash. A Hendrick?Äôs school bus, operated by Linda Rose, age 62 of South Haven, was traveling southbound on Co. Rd. 7 for a scheduled stop to pick up three children at this address. Six-year-old Kyle Voigt of South Haven began to cross Co. Rd. 7 and was struck by a car traveling northbound. That car was a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville being driven by Margaret Hartneck, 60, of St. Augusta. The St. Augusta Fire and Rescue department assisted at the scene with medical care for the boy. Gold Cross Ambulance service also responded and took over care. The boy was taken by Gold Cross ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries. This incident remains under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff?Äôs Office.
The Stearns County Sheriff?Äôs Office would like to speak to the driver of a red car that witnesses indicate was traveling behind Hartneck?Äôs Pontiac. That driver may be able to provide information helpful to completing the investigation into this matter.
