Fog came in Sunday

Weather: After a week without the sun it finally made an appearance Saturday. The last time we had seen the sun peeking through across most of the area was Saturday, Dec. 6. A week without the sun was making many of us a bit cranky.

However, that sunshine was short-lived as the fog rolled back into Minnesota along with our next weather disturbance by Sunday night into Monday. That disturbance would ultimately bring rain, freezing rain, sleet, and also some snow by Monday night across Minnesota.

A winter storm warning was posted for parts of Southern Minnesota for Monday into Monday night.

Meanwhile, much of Central and West Central Minnesota was under a winter weather advisory for Monday into Monday night for freezing rain, sleet, and then changing to all snow by Monday night.

Parts of Northwestern Minnesota were also under a freezing rain advisory for Monday into Monday night.

The wind also became a problem on Monday into Monday night as gusts to 40 mph were reported across parts of the area.

Thankfully, drier air returned by Tuesday on the backside of the cold-front. Temperatures tumbled into the teens for highs on Tuesday.

This was a far cry from the very mild temperatures on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures topped out in the 40s and 50s across Central and West Central Minnesota on Sunday and were in record high temperature territory.

By the way, I hope you?Äôll join me for the latest weather on the all new KoolTV as local television is back in Central and West Central Minnesota. It is going to be fun keeping you in the know on the weather and also entertained.

Have a great week and upcoming weekend.

Weather history: On this date in 1922 a ?Äúheat wave was found across Southern Minnesota as temperatures rose into the 60s at New Ulm and St. Peter.?Äù
