Matt and Kayla Ertl announced last week that they have started a blog. Their goal is to share the love of their daughter Alayna who was taken from this world nearly a year ago, on Aug. 20.
Rather than choose to hide, or to become bitter or hateful, they choose love. And they choose to share this love.
Kayla shared these words in the introductory blog post Aug. 9. ?ÄúWe continue to miss [Alayna] like crazy and wish she was here to participate in all the new things happening in our life. We have come to realize that she is with us through every step of the way and every new event in our lives. She has opened our eyes to God, the love we have around us, family, and enjoying the time we have here on earth.?Äù
The Ertl family moved from their Watkins home out to the country, and they?Äôve added some farm animals It would have been a dream come true for Alayna, and the Ertls feel she?Äôs right there with them, sharing in it all.
This Saturday, Aug. 19, is the Sharing Alayna?Äôs Love ATV/Motor-
cycle/Hot rod run. It will start at Riverside Tavern in Forest City with registration at 11 a.m. The ride will stop in Watkins before returning to Forest City. (This event is on Facebook.)
The Ertls held a big community birthday/Halloween party last year for Alayna. Her birthday is Oct. 31. The family has decided to do this every year. They will collect gift donations that they will bring to families in the community and in the hospital who need Christmas presents.
There are 1,500 temporary tattoos available for pickup this week at the businesses listed below, plus the Eden Valley Area Library. A number of businesses have sponsored the tattoos to make them available at no cost to anyone who wants one. The idea is for everyone to wear them this weekend (they last about a week), to show solidatiry and support ?Äì and LOVE ?Äì for the Ertl family. (This would be a good week to wear something
Matt and Kayla and Carter can never forget Alayna and her sweet, loving spirit, and neither will we.
?ÄúWe love you, Alayna!?Äù
