The Eden Valley Area Library will be honoring the life of Elmer Haag, a long-time bus driver and custodian for the E-VW Schools, with a donation to the district scholarship fund. When parents put their children on a school bus, they trust the bus driver to keep them safe. Elmer Haag did just that. Parents knew their children were in good hands when they climbed aboard his bus. He touched many lives.
What’s the Joe Cocker song? With a Little Help from My Friends? It’s especially true for our library. Please plan on joining us for a meeting of the Friends of the Eden Valley Area Library at 6 p.m. Monday, June 11, in the library. Not a member yet? No problem. You can join at the meeting. Think of all the fun you’ll have working to keep our library hopping!
Valley Daze is just around the corner with lots of fun activities in store. Once again, we’re asking for donations to our Bake Sale. This year we’re adding a new twist. Attach a recipe to your favorite baked donation, making sure to include your name and contact info along with it. We’re planning a library cookbook and would love to include your recipe. We’ll also be offering rolls and coffee on Saturday morning along with the Bake Sale. Win! Win! Dilly Bars will be on sale in the front. Let’s hope the weather cooperates and people are ready for a cool treat. And of course, our colossal Used Book Sale. So, stop in for all the fun and then find a great spot on the sidewalk to view the various parades. Go to our website at http://eval22-org.doodlekit.com/, call the library at (320) 453-4434, or check in with Facebook for dates and times.
The library program Protect Our Children will have a table in the Community Center during Valley Daze. Stop by for helpful tips on how to protect our children. You might get a free pencil, as well.
Marilyn Peterson is making an all-call. If you are a day care provider, parent or grandparent and would like preschool thru Grade 2 books delivered to your home twice a month, let her know by calling 290-1011. Marilyn, one of our Book Ladies, will deliver a plastic tote with 20 books to your home or day care. Your only responsibility is to READ. Knowing what we know about the benefits of reading to those little ones, it is a deal you shouldn’t pass up. In about 15 days Marilyn will return with a new supply of 20 books, switch the totes and be off. It couldn’t be easier, and everyone can enjoy those wonderful books.
Until next month, we’ll see you at the library.
