“It was another great season (2018) for the EV-W/K tracksters! The girls and boys teams had 15 all-conference members, 20 on the state honor roll, 32 academic all-conference selections, 11 all-state academic winners, and 26 athletes appeared at the section meet, with six of those athletes competing at the state meet! At the state meet all participants medaled and therefore earned all-state status in their events. Hannah Ehlinger placed second in high jump, Matthew Notch was fifth in high jump, second in the 400-meter dash; and he anchored on the third-place 4×400 relay team. Other members of the 4×400 relay team were Jamison Kuechle, Hayden Gagnon, Jake Blommer, with Parker Kenning as the alternate. These athletes made our communities proud with their determination to compete. Well done! There were six more school records that were broken this year, and they were: girls 4×100 relay: Elle Geislinger, Brielle Kuechle, Madelyn Hunt and Grace Wagner; boys 4×100 relay: Eric Fodstad, Jamison Kuechle, Parker Kenning, and Billy Fish; boys 4×800 relay: Hayden Gagnon, Alex Marquedant, Jake Blommer, and Matthew Notch; boys 4×400 relay: Jamison Kuechle, Hayden Gagnon, Jake Blommer, and Matthew Notch; and finally, Matthew Notch and Hayden Gagnon broke the 400-meter dash records.
At the beginning of the season we knew we had some potential with the younger athletes and great leaders with the upperclassmen, but we were unsure of how the season would go. Even with what Mother Nature threw at us, we are so pleased and proud of our tracksters and how they competed! Obviously, we have excellent representation of student athletes, both in the classroom and on the track. We want to say a big thank you to all of the athletes (7-12) for being part of this program and competing the way you did. Thank you to all the seniors for your dedication and leadership that guided us through this season. Great effort!! Thanks for a great season.
