George ‘Chief’ Hayden, 72


George F. “Chief” Hayden of Kimball died suddenly Monday, July 2, 2018. He was 72.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, at the Church of the Assumption, 305 East 77th Street, Bloomington. Interment was in Assumption Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, July 5, 4-7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home at 9947 Lyndale Ave. S., and one hour prior to Mass at the church.

George Francis “Chief” Hayden was born in 1945 to Ray and Gladys Hayden. George was a 1963 graduate of DeLaSalle High School, 50-year banker starting with Community State Bank in Bloomington and retiring from Bank West in Rockford, Minn. George was also a retired firefighter serving 20 years including the last 10 years as a Chief for the city of Bloomington. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gladys Hayden, and an infant sister.

He is survived by beloved partner Karen Larson; daughters Debra (and Robert) Ernst, Sherry (and Luke) Louwagie; granddaughters Megan and Madeline Ernst; siblings Art (and Sandy) Hayden, Brian (and Rebecca) Hayden, Joyce Gindorff, Ellen (and Ken) Graber; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Bloomington Association of Retired Firefighters (B.A.R.F.).
