Reuben Streich, 84


Reuben Streich of Maryvsille Township, rural Maple Lake died from heart failure Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7675 Maple Hill Road in Corcoran, Minn., with Pastor Tobin Pederson officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Lake Community Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, one hour prior to services at the church.

Reuben Edgar Streich was born in Albion Township, Wright County Jan. 26, 1934, to Ella (nee Bartels) and Adolph Streich. Reuben was baptized May 14, 1934, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. He was confirmed May 18, 1947, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He graduated from Buffalo High School May of 1952.

Aug. 20, 1954, Reuben Streich and Joan Randel were joined in marriage at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo by Pastor E.R. Berwald. To this union, five children were born.

At churches he attended, he taught Sunday School, Bible class, was an elder and a choir member. He also sang with the Bisionaires. Reuben was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Corcoran, Minn., where he was an elder and sang in the choir.

He was a dairy farmer for 52 years, and retired to a small acreage on his home farm where he grew up and drove tractor to put crops in.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Ella Streich, nephews Steven Birkholz and Patrick Randel, a niece Angela Wagner, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Mabel Randel, and by brothers-in-law Willis Birkholz, Ronald Loch, and Don Loch.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Joan Streich; children Bradley Streich of Maple Lake, Brian (and Pam) Streich of Cokato, Brenda (and Kevin) Saxton of Concord, N.C., Bonny (and Chris) Luthy of Awendaw, S.C., and Bruce (and Angie) Streich of Albertville; eight grandchildren Joshua (and Kelli) Saxton, Kyle Saxton, Tyler Streich, Caleb Streich, Danielle Streich, Nathan Streich, Joel Streich, and Aaron Streich; brothers and sisters Alvin (and Jackie) Streich, Dorothy Loch, Marvin Streich, Marion Loch, Don (and Yvonne) Streich, and Janet (and Ed) Swingley; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Jean Birkholz, and David (and Margaret) Randel; and many other relatives and friends.

Anna Pederson will be the organist for the funeral service. Casket bearers will be his eight grandchildren.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo is serving the family.
