Check it out! October 2018

What’s happening at the Eden Valley Area Library?

Always something going on at the library. We have stars falling from the sky, the return of the EVAL Book Club and Movies to the Big Screen. Also, a huge thank you to all our wonderful supporters.

Sharon Simmons presents Storytime Stars! Stories, rhymes, songs, and crafts for children
6 years of age and younger. Children will be introduced to a variety of books as we practice early literacy skills and foster a love of reading. We will meet in the library every other Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. starting Oct. 3. Dates for the rest of 2018 are
Oct. 3, 17, 31; Nov. 14, 28; and
Dec. 12. Watch for 2019 dates on our Facebook page, in our monthly newspaper column and on our website eval22-org.

The EVAL Book Club started up again in September. Headed up by Ellen Ellickson, they developed their reading list for October through May. This month’s meeting falls at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 16, in the Community Center with a book selection that’s a childhood classic. “Heidi,” by Johanna Spyri was written in 1881. It’s “the story of what happens when a little orphan girl is forced to live with her cold and frightening grandfather.”  Make sure to check out our website for the complete listing of the book club choices.

There will be Movies to the Big Screen information concerning the October showings on our website and on Facebook. So, keep an eye out for what’s coming.

And in closing, a huge thank you to all the wonderful people who helped make our 5th Annual Fall Fundraiser a success. Our invaluable volunteers took on advertising, selling tickets, gathering auction items, decorating and doing lots of heavy lifting. Thanks to our generous donors, who came through in spite of all the demands they receive for the many charitable causes. We appreciate Dino’s for their great staff, wonderful buffet and welcoming facility. And we cannot forget our enthusiastic M.C., Ron Dockendorf, or our more than capable auctioneers, Jerry Theis and Ernie Junker. Along with the music of Erv George, it made for a magical evening. Thank you! We couldn’t have done it without you.

Until next month, we’ll see you at the library.
