Thursday Jan. 3rd, the boys’ C squad traveled to Litchfield to take on the Dragons. The Cubs were very cold shooting all night.  We battled hard on defense throughout the night, but could never make up for our cold shooting. The halftime score had us down 21-11.   In the second half, it was much of the same as we struggled to score despite getting a number of good open shots. The final was 40-21. Scoring for the Cubs was Lucas Jansky 9, Gabe Becker 5, Gavin Loch 3, Skylor Gruba 2, and Ty Gustafson 2.

Friday, the Cubs traveled to Maple Lake for the second road game in two nights. The boys battled a much bigger and stronger Irish team the entire night. However, for the second night in a row the boys came out shooting ice cold. The halftime score had the Cubs down 20 to 8. The Irish played a 2-3 zone that gave the boys trouble. In the second half, we made some adjustments and started to find and hit some open shots. The boys were also able to create a few turnovers and score off a full court press. The Cubs outscored the Irish 26-20 in the second half. However, it was a little too late as the Cubs fell by a score of 40-34. Scoring for the Cubs was Gabe Becker 14, Skylor Gruba 7, Lucas Jansy 5, Matt Eich 3, Ty Gustafson 3, and Jake Spaulding 2.

The Cubs record now stands at 3-5 for the year. This week the Cubs host Milaca on Tuesday and travel to Paynesville on Thursday at 5:45.
