Honor Wreaths disappear at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Little Falls

The state of Minnesota veterans cemetery rules say all Christmas decorations on the graves at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery should be removed around Feb 1.

WreathsForTheFallen.org, the non-profit organization that raised most of the money to provide the wreaths that covered the entire cemetery in December, has also undertaken the task of removing the wreaths.

Saturday, Feb. 2, was the day and 11 a.m. the time selected as most of the volunteers from WreathsForTheFallen.org were available.

It has been reported, many
people have visited the cemetery to witness the amazing sight where the entire cemetery is covered with beautiful wreaths adorned with bright red bows.

Everyone who participated in the wreaths-laying ceremony in December was invited back to participate in the removal of the 5,000-plus wreaths.

Fresh-brewed Starbucks coffee was there at about 9:30 a.m. at the west entrance of the committal building. A briefing was held at
11 a.m., and then many families and supporters dispersed to various sections to remove Honor Wreaths. Because of the deep snow this year, the task of wreath removing was longer than previous years. All the honor wreaths were removed to designated disposal areas in an amazing 40 minutes. A wonderful example of teamwork.

All were invited to a get together after the wreaths were removed at the Canteen located by Camp Ripley.

John Thomas, President of WreathsForTheFallen.org, the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing wreaths at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls Minnesota, said the response this year has far surpassed all previous years.  Contributions were considerably higher and many people have also visited our web site www.WreathsForTheFallen.org, said Thomas.
