A warming trend and a little rain

Mark Anderson Meteorologist

I saw a lot of people out this weekend doing some outdoor activities. I know at our home, we have had some Christmas lights that were still in the ground that were buried under the snow that we couldn’t tend to after Christmas. It is nice to finally be able to see some grass popping up in some locations.

A friend of mine, Art, saw four robbins in his yard a couple of weeks back which is always a sure sign of spring and rebirth. He was all excited to share this news with me. I have yet to see or hear a robbin singing.

Meanwhile, my wife, Tracey, on Sunday saw a blue jay while we were out driving around. We hadn’t seen one all winter. I was reading up that some blue jays will migrate south and others will stick around during the winter. Nevertheless, this was the first one we had see all winter long.

A nice warming trend will be with us for the midweek. We could see the mid to upper 50s, but possibly even some mid 60s across southern and eastern Minnesota. Do I dare venture out to say that parts of Minnesota could even see some lower 70s this week if we get enough sunshine.

A little rain could be possible on Thursday as a weak cool-front pushes across the state. Otherwise, it looks pretty decent.

Have a wonderful midweek.

Weather history: On this date in 1946 it was warm all across Minnesota as high temperatures were in the 60s and 70s. For example, in Redwood Falls it hit a record high of “78 degrees F!”

Weather fact:  Did you know that Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox?
