A benefit is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, at Dino’s Eden Lakeside Club northeast of Eden Valley.
Doors open at 4 p.m. and there will be a sloppy Joe dinner starting at 4 p.m., silent auction from 5-7 p.m., and a live band (Crimson Edge) from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids.
Rusty, Tamra, daughter Melody and son Klae were in St. Cloud for a special Valentine’s Day dinner when they got word that their house on Meeker Avenue in Watkins was on fire. By the time they arrived home, all they could do was watch as firefighters worked to save their home, and wait to see what might be salvagable the next day. None of their belongings survived.
Thanks to neighbors, friends, their church, and benevolent strangers, they immediately had clothing, toys, and household necessities pouring in. They are living in apartment in Watkins until a more permanent home can be located; their fire-damaged home will not be rebuilt.
Most of all, their faith that God has a purpose in all of this have brought them through this so far.
The Staten family has pretty much what they need right now, with one exception: dressers. There is a GoFundMe.com page for the family; search for “Rusty & Tamra” and you’ll find their page.
