The weather turned out fairly decent for both the fishing opener and for Mother’s Day. Some scattered showers moved out of North Dakota and South Dakota on -Saturday, and moved into parts of Minnesota. The wind was the big problem on Saturday as gusts to 30 mph were found. This caused a walleye chop out on area lakes.
On Sunday, we experienced a mix of clouds and sun for all the moms on Mother’s Day. A few spotty showers were found, but much of the region stayed dry. Highs reached the upper 50s and lower 60s with fairly light winds.
Expect a nice warm-up for the midweek. We should see temperatures climb into the mid to upper 70s and possibly even some lower 80s for Wednesday and Thursday.
A much more active weather is expected to settle-in late Friday and into the weekend. This system will come out of the Rockies and move into the Central Plains and the Upper Midwest bringing with it showers and thunderstorms along the way through Sunday.
For you skywatchers, if we have enough clearing sky on -Wednesday night, you will be able to see the moon pass to the north of Spica, the brightest start in the constellation Virgo the Maiden. Enjoy this celestial site.
Have a wonderful midweek.
