Sixty-one individuals crossed the stage Thursday evening, May 30, to receive their diplomas at Eden Valley-Watkins High School.They now go out into the world to pursue their dreams and goals.
Anna Kahlstorf, class salutatorian, welcomed the Class of 2019. The commencement address was given by Mitchell Utecht, class valedictorian.
During the ceremony, music included “Hallelujah” sung by Ayana Ertl, Morgan Everett, Ellie Field, Mady Haag, and Rylie Inselman. The Senior Band played, and Anna Kahlstorf performed “Nuvole Bianche” by Ludovico Einaudi. A slideshow of class memories was shown just before diplomas were conferred.
One classmate missing is Sarah Grunewald who died of cancer while in the fourth grade. A tree was planted in her name in the playground at the elementary school in Eden Valley, and Sarah was included in the program.
The class song is “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey. As they are our future, let’s hope they never stop believin’.
