Frederick A. Metcalf -American Legion Post 261 celebrated Memorial Day Monday, May 27, with a program at the Kimball -Elementary School at 10 a.m.
In the rain, the American Flag was raised to the top of the flag pole and then lowered to half staff. All proceeded to the gym and the flags were all posted. Introductions were given by Commander Jim Herda and Unit President Cindy May. Invocation was given by Reverend Eric Marx. Pledge of Allegiance was led by the Junior and SAL members. The American Legion Auxiliary performed the Flag Folding Ceremony. Everyone joined in singing “God Bless America.” The 2018-2019 American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Representative for Unit 261, -Haley Robben, gave a Memorial selection. Everyone joined in singing “America.” The American Legion Auxiliary, Juniors, and SAL members did the “the empty chair.” Reverend Eric Marx gave the Benediction. Everyone was invited outside for the graveside service. After the graveside service, a community potluck was held at the -Kimball Legion Club.
The Kimball American Legion Auxiliary and SAL would like to thank everyone for attending this service.
We know the weather wasn’t very nice. We are so very thankful for all who came out and remembered all who fought and died for our freedom.
