Corinne Froehling died Sunday, June 16, at her Watkins home. She was 87.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. Aaron Nett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, both at the St. Anthony Parish Center.Corinne was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Watkins to Mathias and Rosella (Haider) Nies. She grew up in Watkins, and she graduated in 1950 as Valedictorian from St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring. On April 26, 1952, Corinne was united in marriage to Donald Froehling at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins, and they lived in Watkins their entire marriage. Over the years, Corinne had been employed at Lundemo’s Pharmacy, Green Giant, Korman Mink Farm, Animal Fair, Mueller Mink Farm, Nistler Building and Supply, and Mies Implement. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and she was active in the CCW, Liturgy Committee, St. Theresia Mission Quilting Group, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a member of the Watkins Senior Citizensw.
Corinne loved to sew, and she made clothing for the family. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and quilting. Her hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, traveling, playing cards, and occasional trips to the casino. Most of all, she loved her family, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, and brothers Vernon and Wallace Nies.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald Froehling, of Watkins; children and their spouses Pamela (and Joe) Smoley of Sauk Rapids, Debra (and Eldred) Hennen of South Haven, Charles (and Barb) Froehling of Kimball, Steven (and Susan) Froehling of Foley, Robert (and Sharon) Froehling of St. Cloud, and Mary Broda of St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with another due in September; brother Earl “Fuzzy” Nies of Lake Elmo, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Music will be provided by Kathy Pauls. Casket bearers will be Jeffrey Smoley, Joshua Smoley, Bradley Smoley, Paul Hennen, Michael Froehling, Matthew Froehling, and Cory Broda.Honorary casket bearers will be Eldred and Leila Froehling, Dolores Faber, Joan Wortz, Marge and Ken Hennen, and Alice Kramer. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home of Watkins.
