Scattered showers and some isolated thunderstorms moved across the state over the weekend. Some parts of the region enjoyed more sunshine and a drier weekend than other areas.
Thankfully, for those those who did pick-up some showers and isolated thunderstorms over the weekend, they were not long-lived. This allowed for area festivities over the weekend, and also those celebrating Father’s Day on Sunday, to get out and enjoy most of the weekend.
The system which brought some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to the state on Sunday, pushed off to the southeast by Monday. This produced some scattered showers mainly across southern Minnesota.
There will be a couple of disturbances that will slide across the state by the midweek into the weekend. This could bring some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to the state. An upper-level disturbance though is expected to slide across the Upper Midwest by late this weekend and into the weekend. This could bring some showers and thunderstorms to the area by late Friday into Saturday. The track and timing of this system could certainly change between now and then.
By the way, summer officially arrives Friday, June 21, at 10:54 a.m. with the summer soltice. Enjoy the rest of the week and welcome to summer.
