1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading program designed to increase the awareness of early literacy and to encourage parents to embrace their role as their child’s first teacher. Plus there are prizes. This program is ongoing, so you can sign up anytime. No limit, please come to the library to register. Sponsored by the Kimball Lions Club and Great River Regional Library.
ECFE storytime at the Library
Kimball early childhood educators will present this series of preschool summer storytime in the library. For ages 1-5. Limit 12. Registration is preferred; if space is available walk-ins are welcome. 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Golden retriever Greta Louise and Alice the cockapoo love good books and can’t wait to be read to at the library. For ages 4-12. Limit 5. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9.
Cap off the week Friday afternoon with a visit to the library. A new activity each week will provide you with the chance to learn, explore, or create. For ages 8-12. Sponsored by the Kimball Friends of the Library. 3-5 p.m. Fridays, Aug. 2, 9, 16.
It’s showtime at the Library – Movies as emojis
Can you decode the movie of the week? Throughout the weeks of summer, emoji movie clues will be posted to challenge you. Submit your guess to the posted clue for a chance to win fun weekly prizes. For ages grade 6 to 17. Sponsored by the Kimball Friends of the Library. June 10 through Aug. 10.
Kimball Area Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library promote and sustain the library by participating in community events and raising funds that they use to sponsor programs and purchase furniture and supplies. Come to a meeting on the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in Kimball City Hall to get involved and meet new friends.
