Elaine Johnson of Fairhaven died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at St. Cloud Hospital. She was 79.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Fairhaven Christian Church in Fairhaven with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairhaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Elaine Mae Johnson was born May 21, 1940, in Fairhaven to Benjamin and Ruth (Noyes) Salmela. She graduated in 1958 from Kimball High School. On Oct. 22, 1960, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Robert M. “Bob” Johnson at the Church of Christ in Kimball. Elaine and Bob owned and operated RM Johnson Co. in Annandale and Kimball Railcar Services from 1972 until present. She has lived in the Fairhaven area all her life. Elaine loved her family and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Fairhaven Christian Church, she loved her flowers and reading, and she was an avid Scrabble player.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Bob in 2006.
She is survived by three daughters Kelly (and Don) Donabauer of Fairhaven, Kerry Johnson-Nolan (and Skip Nolan) of French Lake, and Kristy (and Tom) Harren of Kimball; brother Arlen (and Verna) Salmela of Fairhaven; sisters Ardis (and Don) Hammer of Minneapolis, and Evelyn (and Richard) Weisman of Fairhaven; grandchildren Tiffany, Tabitha, Nicholas, Samantha, J.T., and Tori; and great-grandchildren Rean, Thayer, Wynn and Kazden.
Lori Miller will provide music for the service. Memorials are preferred to Fairhaven Christian Church. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
