The South Haven city council met Tuesday, Aug. 6, for its regular meeting.

Fire Chief Laney reported 8 fire calls and 8 rescue calls during July 2019. The rescue rig will have a new exhaust system installed. A new rescue boat has been ordered.

A number of public works issues are being worked on, including water meter repairs, fence replacement at the wastewater pond site, cleaning out the grease from a sewer lift station so it works again, rebuilding the pump in the well house in the fluoride feed, and keeping up with both mowing and with water and wastewater testing and reports.

The city has installed an updated Banyon accounting system for utilities billing onto a newly purchased computer. Karin Flaten is doing the data entry to set up the system. The council approved paying $3,490 for the Banyon Fund Accounting program, training and support.

The city office will be closed Aug. 29 through Sept. 2.

The next regular meeting of the South Haven city council will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.
