Artist Rose Edin to speak at opening of exhibit


Saturday, Aug. 31, at Dassel History Center

Rose (Anderson) Edin of Venice, Fl., internationally known artist and art teacher, will be the speaker at the opening of an exhibit, The Art of Rose Edin, at
10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the -Dassel History Center, 901 First St. N.

A 1953 graduate of Dassel High School, Edin was given her first set of oil paints when she was 8. After painting with oils for a number of years, she decided that watercolors offered more opportunity for expression and creativity.

Edin is a signature member of the American Watercolor -Society, National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor -Society of America where she has been awarded Master status. She has received numerous awards for her art and has been recognized internationally in art publications.

Her education includes North Park University, Colorado State University (graduate study), and the Minneapolis School of Art.

Edin has taught throughout the United States and worldwide for more than 40 years. She has served as juror in many art showings, and she and Dee Jepsen are authors of the book, Color Harmonies – Paint Watercolors Filled with Light.

The exhibit will be at the -History Center through Oct. 12. It will feature approximately 40 original pieces and 15 prints, almost all of which are from the collections of area people who own Edin’s work.

There is no charge for the event or the exhibit.
