August minutes summary from Kimball School Board


The Kimball School Board held its August meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019.

The board approved the consent agenda consisting of approval of the July 17 board minutes, approval of payments, treasurer’s report, 7th grade volleyball coach Barry Strand, Technology Education teacher Robert Steffen, resignation from Kale Paulson, and acceptance of donations and grants.

Building reports included updates on building maintenance and improvements at the high school, staffing changes, student enrollment can be done on-line through the JMC system, a recent PLC conference for staff, and enrollment is currently at 313 for grades K-5, and 434 in grades 6-12. Mr. Timmerman has met many of the elementary staff, and is excited for the school year to begin.

Superintendent Widvey reported on several construction management firms as the district looks at a possible bond referendum for fall 2020; open house night is Wednesday,
Aug. 21, from 4-7 p.m.; the superintendent attended Phase I training in August; he updated the board on the roof construction progress as well as the window replacement at the elementary. Staff Welcome Back breakfast is set for Tuesday, Aug. 20, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Willow Creek Park shelter.

The board approved hiring consultants to create the school district’s new strategic plan, increased employee meal reimbursements to $15 for all meals with a $45 per day maximum, increased milk prices by five cents, to $.45 beginning Nov. 1. They accepted the resignation from Tara Buermann, and approved hiring Kelly Traurig. The Master Agreement with Education Minnesota-Kimball along with the Master Agreement with Education Support Personnel were both ratified. The agreement with the -non-licensed group was also approved. Three additional football coaches were approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
