At 5:34 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, the Stearns County Communications Center received a 911 call of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of River Street and 4th Street West in the city of Holdingford. A motorcycle was the only vehicle involved.
Deputies arrived on scene to find Benjamin Scegura, 22 of Avon, had been heading eastbound on River Street on his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle. Scegura told deputies that he hit a puddle of water causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it down on its side. Scegura had no passenger at the time, and he was not wearing a helmet.
The crash investigation determined that alcohol was a probable factor. Scegura was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. The Stearns county Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Holdingford Fire and Rescue, Mayo Ambulance, and North Memorial Air Care.
