Bishop Kettler to celebrate Blue Mass for first responders

Bishop Donald Kettler will celebrate a special “Blue Mass” to honor first responders and other emergency personnel at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 25 Eighth Ave. South, St. Cloud. A reception will follow. All are welcome to attend.

“One of my favorite Gospel stories is the Parable of the Good Samaritan,” Bishop Kettler said. “At its heart, it’s about a stranger who stops to offer care and mercy to an injured person. Our police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel are the Good Samaritans of our day. They make sacrifices every day to protect and care for others, often at great risk to themselves. This Mass is an opportunity to offer heartfelt thanks to them and their families, and to pray for their continued safety.”

This is the fourth year Bishop Kettler will celebrate a Mass for first responders. The Diocese of Saint Cloud is comprised of 16 counties in central Minnesota.
