Our Labor Day weekend wasn’t the worst weekend we’ve had, but it certainly wasn’t one of the better Labor Day weekends either.
We had a mix of clouds and sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday. An inversion on Sunday trapped us under a deck of lower-
level clouds across much of the state. Temperatures were generally in the mid- to upper 60s and lower 70s Sunday.
On Monday, some showers and thunderstorms broke out across parts of Minnesota as a short wave along with a cold front pushed across the region. Much of the state had a slight risk for severe weather due to the instability. Some locally heavy rainfall was found in some locations along with some hail.
Drier weather returned by Tuesday morning as the kids headed back to school. High temperatures Tuesday were generally in the mid- to upper 60s with a few lower 70s across southern Minnesota.
For the midweek, we will see several fast-moving systems that could bring some spotty showers on Wednesday and Thursday. The coming weekend looks cool with a couple of spotty showers very possible.
Temperatures over the weekend look to be very fall-like with highs only in the low- to mid 60s. Fall weather is certainly settling in and the fall colors will soon be here.
Good luck to all the area students this school year!
