Airborne Silverado crashes in Lynden Township

Just past 2:30 a.m. Monday,
Sept. 2, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle crash. A 2018 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on County Road 44 near County Road 143 in Lynden Township when it left the roadway and traveled about 200 yards before hitting a field approach when it became airborne for about 25 yards before coming to rest in a cornfield parallel to the ditch. Several rows of corn were damaged, and the Silverado sustained extensive damage. The front and side airbags were deployed. It did not appear that the driver attempted to brake after leaving the roadway.

The driver was identified as Alexander Holb, 21 of Eden Prairie. He was taken by Mayo Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were Clearwater Fire and Rescue, and Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
