The Benton County Extension Master Gardeners are hosting a FREE Fall Gardening Seminar Thursday, Oct. 10. This event is open to the public. Whether you are an avid gardener or just enjoy learning, this seminar is for you.
Join the Benton County Extension Master Gardeners Oct. 10 at the Sauk Rapids High School Community Room from 6-9 p.m. Snacks and door prizes will be available.
There will be three expert speakers from across the state presenting at the seminar:
Gina Hugo, a Forest Resource Specialist with Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District. Gina will discuss tree tests and diseases in Central Minnesota and what a changing climate may mean for our trees.
Joan Andersen, a Stearns County Extension Master Gardener, will discuss Fall Gardening-Winding Down for the Season. Joan has been a Stearns County Master Gardener for 19 years. She loves to grow perennials, vegetables, blueberries, and raspberries. She also starts a lot of vegetables and annuals from seed to plant in her gardens and sell at the annual Master Gardener plant sale. Joan enjoys talking about plants with everyone.
The final speaker of the evening is orchid enthusiast and Extension Master Gardener Jayme Hennek. Learn which orchids are the easiest to grow, proper lighting, watering, temperature, humidity and potting, and how they affect the re-blooming of orchids.
This seminar is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. To register you can call (320) 255-6169, ext 1. You can also register online by visiting
