An American Legion Family Fall Conference was held
Oct. 24-26 in Mahnomen, hosted by Bagley Post #16.
Fall Conference is a “School of Instruction.” Members learn about the programs of American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion. Each chairperson tells about their program and then members have the opportunity to ask questions they may have.
The American Legion Auxiliary conference was called to order by Department of Minnesota -American Legion Auxiliary President Mary Hendrickson.
We had the pleasure of hearing from the Girls Nation -Senator Kindra Peterson and her experiences at Girls Nation in -Washington, D.C., this year.
The American Legion Auxiliary will be 100 years old in November this year, so the poppy contests were based on this theme. There were some pretty cakes made out of styrofoam that look like real cakes.
There was a silent auction at fall conference which raises funds for auxiliary emergency fund. They raised $4,334.97 at the auction. The Kimball American Legion Auxiliary had a total donation of $240.
Members from Unit #261 of the American Legion Auxiliary from Kimball who attended Fall Conference were Barb Hopewell, Colette VanVleet, Carol Santone-Royal, Jeanne Schmidt, Dori -Hamilton, Renee Berscheid, and LuAnn Marschel.
LuAnn Marschel served as -Sergeant-at-Arms for the conference, and Renee Beerscheid and Carol Santone-Royal carried the 6th District flags.
