Early evening crash injures one


Lynette Kleve was driving her Impala southbound on County Road 7 north of Fair Haven Sunday evening when a pickup pulled onto the road in front of her causing a collision.

At about 5:20 p.m. Sunday evening, Oct. 27, the -Stearns County Communications Center received a call regarding a two-vehicle crash with injures at the intersection of Co. Rd. 7 and Co. Rd. 146 in Fairhaven Township. This is about six miles north of the townsite of Fair Haven. The intersection is controlled by stop signs for east and west traffic on Co. Rd. 146.

Lynette Kleve, 58 of Howard Lake, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Co. Rd. 7.

Clayton Johannes, 72 of Jordan, was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra eastbound on Co. Rd. 146. Johannes entered into the intersection and was struck by Kleve. Kleve was treated on scene for her injuries and later transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Deputies made contact with Johannes and observed signs of alcohol consumption. After additional investigation, Johannes was arrested and booked on criminal vehicular operation resulting in injury-felony and fourth-
degree DWI. He was held at the Stearns County jail pending a court appearance.

Assisting at the scene was the South Haven Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.
