Herbert “Bert” Dibley of Brooklyn Park died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. He was 93.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Community United Methodist Church, 9225 Jason Avenue in Monticello, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
Herbert “Bert” Charles Dibley was born Oct. 1, 1926, to Roy and Lola (Lapham) Dibley. He was a proud World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the American Legion. He taught music and math; he taught choir at Kimball Area High School for many years. He also worked 10 years as a carpenter. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving as choir director for many years and as a certified lay speaker. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, was a square dance caller, and an avid railroad enthusiast. He also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and taking countless photographs. Bert served many years as a Scout Master and assistant Scout Master.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Eunice Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth; sons Charles (and Lorna) Dibley, Terry (and Barb) Dibley, and Douglas (and Jenny Ann), and daughter Patricia (and Kurt) Ruppel; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers Leland (and Carol) Dibley and Stuart (and Ruth Ann) Dibley; and other family and friends.
Arrangements were by Peterson Grimsmo Funeral Chapel in Monticello. Memorials may be directed to Portland Prairie Cemetery Association.
