At its April 7 regular meeting, the South Haven city council approved spending up to $3,500 for emergency lights for the Fire Department boat. The department had purchased supplies for protection against COVID-19, and expected to make more such purchases. The State Fire Marshal has banned group training for departments throughout the state.
The council agreed that future meetings would be done by telephone while the Governor’s stay-at-home order is in place.
Because of the pandemic, authority was given to clerk/treasurer Karen Flaten authority to pay bills, with oversight by mayor Norm Bodeker as needed.
The council approved a wine and strong beer license for South Haven Sports; the fee is $100.
The city’s dog catcher will resign as soon as a replacement can be found. Mayor Bodeker will seek a recommendation from Annandale Veterinary Clinic.
Minutes were not yet available from the May 5 meeting. Their next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 2.
