Dennis and Pam Loch are turning 60! Come, celebrate with them from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Kiffmeyer Park in  St. Augusta, Minn. A picnic lunch will be served from 1-2:30 p.m.

Ethelyn Tellers, 101

Ethelyn Tellers of Litchfield died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Bethany Assisted Living in Litchfield. She was 101.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Augustana Chapel in Litchfield. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Watkins.

Hilltop Health Care Center added 34 apartments called Gardenview three years ago. Those apartments are now filled, and there is a long waitlist.

Fred Struzyk, administrator at Hilltop, has announced plans to begin construction on 12 new apartments this spring, perhaps as early as May 1.

Temps remain cold

It was a chilly Easter Sunday across Minnesota. This cold air mass came on the backside of the system that brought snow to the state of Minnesota Friday night into Saturday.

We got a break from the snow on Sunday into early Monday before another weather disturbance arrived on Monday into Monday afternoon. Some light rain was mixed in at times across parts of southern Minnesota.

A secondary system arrived Monday night into Tuesday as an area of low pressure pushed out of the Rockies and into the Central Plains. This system brought some additional snow and winds to the region.

EV-W Knowledge Bowl teams bring home medals

The EV-W knowledge bowl teams brought home medals and trophies from the Wednesday, Feb. 21, meet at Holdingford.

The Varsity I team of Brad Dockendorf, George Lemke, Grant Kahlstorf, Maggie Schmaltz, and Cory Zimmerman earned third place medals yesterday and a trophy for their second place finish in the conference. The JVB team of Mady Haag, Zach Kuechle, Landon Muonio, Seth Roeser and Nicky Zadra earned first place medals for the meet, and a first place trophy for the season. Meanwhile, the JVA team of Hailey Gruber, Abby Holmberg, Wyatt Schmidt and Derek Utecht earned third place medals for the meet.

River Lakes’ girls fall short of state tournament bid

The Lady Stars faced off with a good Fergus Falls team on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Section 6A semifinals at Fergus Falls Community Arena. Shots on goal favored Fergus Falls, 29-14. The Lady Stars’ Brianna Deming nailed an unassisted goal just 57 seconds into overtime to defeat Fergus Falls and send River Lakes to the finals of the Section 6A semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 15. Fergus Falls took a lead into the third period, but River Lakes’ Aubrey Griffin scored at the 3:08 mark and Kianna Roeske followed that up with a goal a few minutes later to tie the game. River Lakes’ goalie Jordyn Tomaszewski rejected 27 of 29 shots.

Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of Maine Prairie Township, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, that the Annual Town Meeting and Election will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election will be postponed until the third Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the below scheduled times.
